Something uplifting and escapist

since this week was pretty hellish, I figured some uplifting fare was in order.

this ESPN film is from the "30 in 30" series, its entitled "Four Days In October", and its the 4 days in Oct 2004, when the Boston Red Sox were down 3 games to zero in the ALCS playoffs to the New York Yankees.

Sometimes when i'm feeling blue, i'll watch this, and at the end, i'm feeling more upbeat. I might have posted this before, but please excuse me, my elevator don't go to the top floor. if it puts one guy here in a better mood, that'll make me happy. My favorite guys in this are Kevin Millar and THE Schill....enjoy bros

to me, it means "never give up"....OR "why not us?"......and that's uplifting.

I have it on dvd...have practically burned a hole in it, watched it so many times. Glad my Dad got to see that series before he died. thanks again Neil.

Great clip!! Sometimes when I'm feeling blue I will watch this 3 minute youtube clip of what many call the greatest athletic performance in the history of sports. It's Secretariats unbelievable victory at the 1973 Belmont Stakes where he won The Triple Crown and shattered the track record that day--and the record still stands today! In fact this clip is so compelling that it is also Bill Belichick's (New England Patriots Head Coach) favorite inspiration and he shows it every year to his team on the opening day of each season so they can see what it means to be a champion and to never quit.

I don't know if anyone said this, but it seemed ironic that a team called the Red Sox would get a HUGE performance from a guy with a red (bloody) sock, namely Curt Schilling.

and to Stack.....two very unpleasant nights in NY, huh?.....both of those Mets pitchers were painting the corners AT WILL, that team WANTED those games, and those two Mets starters (cant remember their names) were hyper focused and dialed in, they even had 10 mph differentials on their pitches.

and my brother is an example of the "old" Cubs thinking, coz we were both going on, about, "loveable losers no more", I call him to rant the morning after the game one loss, and he told me, he's "already happy the way things have gone", and I said, "i pray that isn't the way the team is thinking, coz that's the same old "loveable loser" thinking!!!!"

if the Cubs don't own the Mets from pitch ONE, Tuesday at Wrigley, then forget it. You didn't have to live thru the 1969 collapse of the Cubs to the "Miracle Mets" as a 9 year old.....talk about childhood PTSD! that's why i'm a BASEBALL fan, and not wed to any one team, especially the Cubs!

I was waiting to speak to you Neil after the embarrassment and the tears were all but gone from this 40 year old man

There was just no chance with the Mets pitching and our lack of pitching. We were just overmatched and shouldn't have even been in that series ( I'm glad we did). What an embarrassment to be swept like that and to see not only Lester but Arietta pitch like that

...and that Murphy from the Mets deserve all the praise in the world beating Beltran's record. It's going to be a payday for him after this year and he's a free agent. They better sign him.

Another cold winter is coming where this Cubs fan will hibernate and lick my wounds
