Things that reassure us that all is well...

Not to be a debbie downer...

The Yen [of all things] strengthening against the USD...
Japanese bonds with negative interest rates (as well as a few other countries)...
Gold going up as the USD index goes down...
Oil going down despite the USD index going down...
US tax receipts going down for many quarters in a row...
Headlines like "Stocks Stabilize after an early slide" despite graphical evidence to the contrary posted immediately adjacent to the article...
Obvious PPT activity in European, US, and Chinese markets at various intervals...
China selling large amounts of US treasuries...
Iran (and other major oil producers) beginning to insist in payment other than USD...

(Many many other production indices - too many to count, but some subject to interpretation - all heading down for many quarters in a row)

Get prepared for the crash. It's not if, or even when now. We're already in it. They are forcing the normal response into a longer, stretched-out slow motion behavior by a massive influx of printed money into the markets to buy up bonds, stocks, other assets, even selling gold outright (Canada) but they will run out of ammo at some point and short of imposition of draconian socialist controls (which they could do, but lead to other consequences) they can't stop it.

I am amazed at how the general public including my friends and acquaintances, can be so unaware of the above. Perhaps it was the Super bowl that has distracted them. (While not a football fan, whoo hoo for old men with experience running the show and winning over youth with strength, speed and agility.) We like to call the longer, stretched-out, slow motion behavior "The long, slow train wreck". Imagine a hundred car train wrecking, in slow motion. I would think, even with draconian socialist controls they couldn't stop it, just shift or deflect the direction of the shat away from them selves and more to we the people.

Deutsche Bank has been <<other>> than rock solid when I noticed a property owned in the little town of Wales, MA. Home on it was on filled in swamp and all the runoff in the neighborhood went to it's property. The gal that owned it was one of those uh, not so qualified individuals we hear so much about associated with those mortgages . . . and owned by Deutsche Bank. That was about 11 or so years ago.

Thanks for the worldly update Camaro, always appreciated.

However, since it is the big financiers/banks and corporations really running the show I think it will lead to war and more Draconian Fascist controls rather than any fake Socialism.
"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered....The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."

Can't rule that out either.

Perhaps I am to cynical but the real answer is probably whichever works given the then current circumstances.
