Forgive my ignorance, but I've never sent a coin for grading. It seems like I have to be a member or buy a subscription to do that?

I dont think you have to be a member of anacs, but you do have to be a member of ngc or pcgs.. i also think icg it not member required.. accurately graded or not, PCGS brings the most bang for your buck.. it may not be accurate and it may be, on higher end things, it soars past the competition price wise

Prepare to wait.

I have had an order there for darn near a month now. Another RC member PM'ed me yesterday saying he is at the month and a half mark with his submission.

Otherwise.....Good luck Spence. I hope you get a grand slam.

ANACS is having a sale.
February is Silver Dollars and/or Lincoln cents
$10 each with 10 or more submissions.

Ok so here is my pipe dream opinion, I will post results when I get them
1977 ms66+
1971-d ms66
1978-d ms67
1971-d ms66+
1974-s 40% ms 68+
1973-d ms67
1974-s 40% PR70
1974-d Lincoln ms67 Rd funky toning on rev might knock it down though

Of course theses are all my biased opinions.. Hoping it's not a wash, but regardless these are some of the nicest Ike's I have seen.. Eye popping luster with little to know marks.. These coins are submitted secure, so them image will be posted on PCGS when done..

Hope you do well! If they all come back 66 or better, do you stand to make a nice profit or are these just for your collection/enjoyment?

Well I did a lot of buying, judging, and looking at pcgs coins online and at heritage auction house.. Judging by eye appeal and bag marks the grades posted which can be biased are what I came up with.. These will go I the collection at least for a while for learning experience and to buy more Ike's.. If these don't do well I will know I gotta step up my game a little.. The penny is a long shot, toned wired on the reverse so it will likely not do well.. The obv is hammered as my buddy likes to call it..next time you go to a show ask to see an Ike, most people say a what? Others say naw not much interest in those, then some will say, you know some guy a few shows ago cleaned me out.. Most people think they are ugly but a nice strong strike with great eye appeal in my opinion holds its own..

The 73-d or 78-d is going to win.. Maybe not both, but one of these is going to knock it out of the park, the 74-s proof is a long shot and I'm really expecting a 69, just because I know pcgs is not into handing out 70's the 74-s blue Ike is one of the best I had, and believe me I got some, but after looking it over and over I just couldn't see any major draw backs.. I expect the 71-d's to do the worst.. Not that I think they will do terrible , but luster is flatter on one and the marks are more under magnification.. The 77 is also iffy, no marks but it don't say wow like the 78 73 it has more of a bluish tone

In my world you were very close. Always slightly optimistic relative to the grader but maybe they were harsh. Though I think your 70 should have been a 69 (but what do I know). If Chris thinks you were on target then maybe just factor that in depending on the rarity of the coin. If you subtract a grade and it doesn't make financial sense then pass? But if the potential gain from being right at 10 to 1 odds creates a payoff then go for it? Does that make sense?
