While this article is a little dated but appears to be spot on...If you look at this past Friday's list you will see that the banks that failed were not a suprise to this author who posted this article: http://www.investinganswers.com/next-ba ... could-fail

My bank is OK, but there are a couple in my area that are in trouble.

At 1:18 in the clip, the dollar symbol has two vertical bars.

I have never seen any confirmation, but it is my belief that the single bar dollar sign denotes the fiat tender currency, and the two-bar symbol represented metal backed money.

Has anyone seen any info or discussions of this change of the dollar sign? When did it occur?
