Canadian Silver Dollars

APMEX has 1958-1967 Canada Silver Dollar AU/BU which I am not familiar with. Discounted today but, figuring the silver content, still about a 26% premium over melt. A little over $12 apiece. Is this worth the effort?

Historically (as the reference above shows) they've recently typically had just minimum premium over melt. That may change if collectors give them more respect over time. After all, it wasn't all that long ago that Morgans were worth.... exactly $1.

I happen to love them, and have acquired quite a few as a small part of the stash. They are still easy to find (might not always be true) and next to American silver dollars, and with a few other rarer and older exceptions around the world over time, they are the biggest most satisfying circulating silver coin there is, and they are easy to assess because they (like all Canadian 80%) have exactly 0.6 toz silver per dollar.

They do not sell well here int he U.S and typically can be bought for $1 over spot or so. I would put a buy ad out on here if you are interested in some and see what comes up. I do not see these premiums moving around much, as they are common and have the same design for many years.

They do not sell well here int he U.S and typically can be bought for $1 over spot or so. I would put a buy ad out on here if you are interested in some and see what comes up. I do not see these premiums moving around much, as they are common and have the same design for many years.

Hmmm... common, same design for many years, don't sell well in US - that sounds just like the Morgan/Peace dollar for most of their existence until the past couple of decades

When I was a kid you could hardly give them away even at face, banks hated them, no one wanted to carry them except the cowboys and miners out west.

Except Canada didn't have mint marks
