Thinking about a life membership? American Legion, NRA, etc

I would suggest buying bullion instead and paying your yearly membership out of that stack. I think you will come out ahead.

Hmmm interesting thought!
I would think, if a lifetime is equal to 8 years or less, then you might be wrong.

Another problem is the price of silver might be down when dues are up. Just creates a bad managing situation. In my opinion.

I think you may be right. If I buy a microwave at and they want to charge me a extra fee for extended warranty I normally pass.

Bought my life NRA membership this year.

Bought a lifetime NY hunting license about 10 years ago. More than paid for now. Also, locked in some benefits that would not have if I had not gotten the life when I did.

Some lifetime deals are good no doubt. For example, if you are a disabled Veteran in Iowa, you can get a lifetime hunting / fishing license for $7.

My line of thinking only applies to the expensive ones. Places like the VFW, DAV and AMVETS aren't too bad. But other places, like the NRA and Legion, are quite expensive.

The NRA for example, is going to cost you $1500 for a lifetime membership. Or $40/year. I am confident if you take the $1500 and put it in bullion, you will win big via what is essentially "reverse dollar cost averaging". Let inflation work for you. Plus, you have the benefit of "holding" what you own during that time.

This advice probably won't apply to many, but for those that it does I think its sound.

I did one of these deals a while back. Might have been $300, but I don't remember. Join the NRA folks!

Yep, NRA Life is $500, and they will take payments over time, $25 per month.

Yes NRA lifetime was $500. And at $40 per year, I didn't figure it was a bad deal.

I am planning to do my life membership for the VFW this year. It makes sense to pay it now, expecting to remain active with the organization for another 30-40 years. If it and I last that long
