Some FRN out of a safety Deposit Box.

So I went to my Pickup bank at lunch today and asked my usual: "Do you have anything interesting or cool for me today?" question to my favorite teller.

She said yeah I have something I have been holding for you. She comes back with a band of 1976 $2 FRN. She says, "I person emptied their saftey deposit box this week and exchanged these for two hundreds. The look to be brand new.....You want them Doc?"

Why yes mam, I do. :P

I used to buy and sell bricks of uncirculated $2 bills before eBay hiked their fees - I was never lucky enough to run across a batch of 1976'ers. Nice find, Doc!

Nice find,it pays to be friendly with your tellers.
I talked with a note collector a few weeks ago while in the LCS.
Someone was in there trying to sell some $2 bills.Shop owner didn't want them so he made a offer and bought them.
From what I was told there and 2 districts that are rare, semi rare in 1976. Not sure but I think St. Louis is one.
Not sure about Richmond but hope it is for you.

My mom worked at a bank when she finished highschool and kept alot of neat things like this. She kept all the paper and sold the silver in the 80's
"The study of money, above all other fields in economics, is one in which complexity is used to disguise truth or to evade truth, not to reveal it. The process by which banks create money is so simple the mind is repelled. With something so important, a deeper mystery seems only decent." John Kenneth Galbraith 1975

My bank ordered a brick for me to sort and look at and they still have most of them. It has been a long time ago and can't remember all they had but if anyone wants any tell me how many you want. No star notes..I pull those and any misprint errors.
