Scrapping tires.

Just watched an episode of "Boneyard" on tv and saw what plants are doing with scrap tires. Has anyone had any experience with tire recycling plants or selling large
amounts of scrap tires? The two plants showcased were in California and I'm unfortunately in NJ. Thanks in advance.

tire charge most places here is now $ 5

last year the ffa in this county had a day when you could bring them in for free

kind of a keep america beautiful thing

they go to a company that shreds them for playground cover and also makes bird baths, picnic tables and other things

they collected 120 tons of tires in the few hours they were accepting them

I agree: only $1 to dispose of a tire is lucky! Everywhere near me charges $3.

Short story:

- Regulations are created to protect the public from junk tires.

- Tires become expensive to properly dispose of.

- Public dumps their tires illegally on the side of the road, in the woods or their neighbor's dumpster. Or they burn them, also illegal.

- Tires are still a big problem, arguably worse than before.

The material is recyclable, but storage is the biggest issue. A large quantity of junk tires is a fire hazard and a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

The $1 is on top of the state desposible fee that is charged with each tire sale. Kind of a double dip by our local gov.

there is a tremendous supply of free tires so I doubt anyone would ever pay you anything for these. in fact, they would pay you to take them away.
