U.S glass penny

Postby highroller4321 » Fri Jan 20, 2017 11:06 am

Did you guys know that the U.S tried to make a glass penny during WWII? I didn't until one auctioned off at the FUN show. Supposedly there is only 1 known to exist! They stopped trying to make them out of glass when they couldn't get any of them to look alike and they also were cutting people!

I learned something new today. I didn't know that.

I was wondering why I cut myself on that Ryedale reject. Now I know. :)
Former stock broker w/ ~20 yrs. at one company. Spoke with 100k+ people and traded a lot (long, short, options, margin, extended hours, etc.).

NOTE: ANY stocks I discuss, no matter how compelling, carry risk- often
substantial. If not prepared to buy it multiple times in modest amounts without going overboard (assuming nothing really wrong with the company), you need to learn more about the market and managing risk. Also, please research covered calls (options) and selling short as well.

This is still pretty cool- Outside of the Steel/aluminum/glass cents used as alternative materials to copper/zinc is there is anything we are missing. Any official record of a plastic cent (by the mint of course) or wooden cents being used?
