Lets get excited

Postby CU Baker » Wed Jul 12, 2017 7:40 pm

Three months ago, going thru the pocket change I always save up. Just an ordinary 1960 s come to the surface? There is no 1960 s, prof or other. After what I can see with these old eyes and many searches, my coin friends I have known for years. We are thinking collectively it may be a 1960 s /d. Maybe a new verity. Stay tuned

Maybe on Monday for the pics, Just sent it off to Chis so he can mull it over. The coin may also have a lamination error.

theoretically a D or P penny could have gotten in the assembly line from someone's pocket and got over-stamped with an S? Its certainly not outside the realm of the possible, very exciting

Hate to be that guy, but it looks like post-mint damage to me. The D anyway, don't know about the rest.

Thanks for the great pics, and help Chris. I think Nate hit it on the head. But just looking at this coin you can see why I wanted help.

Yep, perfect post mint damage. Even with the coin blown up to 7-8" on my screen it makes you take a long look. The closeup photos clear things up nicely and confirm that this is not a mint mark variety/mint error. The coin does have a cool lamination running through liberty.

Thanks for the opportunity to shoot the coin Bob. PM me your info and I'll get her mailed back to you, Doc

Unfortunate that it wasn't a S/ D but it does look like the 1960 large date variety....8-)
