May I ask the more experienced collector members for their opinion on the grade of this 1901-S Morgan? Thanks in advance.

Four minutes after posting the request and photos I got a reply. He said the coin is "very fine". Its perhaps XF40, but having been cleaned detracts from it.

https://www.usacoinbook.com/coins/dollars/morgan/ says it could be worth $46 - $64 to a collector willing to pay retail.
