51 pennies in Coinstar, day before yesterday, at Food Lion-also two plastic pennies. One 1998 zinc penny has a obverse offset strike (small) with a "cratered" rim on the opposite side from the 8. The 8 of 1998 is at the edge of the coin. (Maybe a small value error? Like 50 cents worth.)

A convenience store clerk gives me a shiny 1976 bicentennial quarter. I look closer. It has an S mint mark. I look this up. Apparently it is 40% silver. I didn't know these existed.

Went back to Food Lion today. The Coinstar machine has been hauled away.

I went to a grocery store 6-12 months ago where the Coinstar machine was hauled away, but a different brand (forget the name) was brought in to replace it. So all is not necessarily lost...

From the Coinstar at the local Walmart...

One Zincoln penny
1964-D Roosy dime (nice BU I might add, but I don't believe in slabbing 64-D's)
2005 Canada dime

And then I walked down an aisle to get my ice cream...found another dime

And then I went to pay for my ice cream and in the change return I found the following:

3 pennies
1 nickel
1 dime
3 quarters
(93 cents from the change return- no good dates)

Agreed. Also, many people don’t know you can avoid the Coinstar fee if you are willing to get a gift card.

I think Coinstar has dropped all of their gift card options except for Amazon.

1964 silver dime found yesterday at a Coinstar machine.

Today I found a 1953 silver dime at a different CS machine.

Two days in a row. Pretty unusual for me.
