FYI- I wouldn't save the 1979 dime- even dimes from 1965-1969 are easy to find and there is no real collector value for them. Now 1964 and before are silver- so that is something different altogether.

Not sure if this belongs here for 2 reasons: 1. Found it on the street by a parking meter where I often find change and 2. It's not officially a coin. I found a plastic penny, 1 cent. Says "SCHOOL MONEY" above Abe's head.

Didn't there used to be a tracking forum for only plastic coins? I seem to recall one. Didn't see it under the Tracking Threads.

Seeing several of you guys pulling out the old boxes/rolls of late got me motivated. So I did some searching and came up with some as well. Several boxes and a few bags of unsorted coin. Some day I'll search the copper pile for goodies, but I don't have near that much time, hehe.

While I do have a Ryedale, I wanted to hand sort these. I can't tell you the last time I did this. I did cheat and use the Scan Coin 303 to total everything up.

$50 bag. Looked dark, felt heavy, and I could see a fair number of wheats showing, so I knew it should be good. No coin newer than 2012.

Zn - 3583
Cu - 1019
Wheats- 393 '19, '27, '29, '34, '35, '37, 145-'40's, 242-'50's
'82 Cu - 111
'82 Zn - 26
Canada - 4 Three Cu one Zn
28% Copper including wheats.

If you add up coin totals you'll get $49.99, so I was shorted one coin. With bags it always was a +/- game, but the goodies usually out weigh any short count. I remember the 40+ dime count bags....

I'll try and sort some more bags/boxes as time allows, but I'm afraid it will be hard to top this bag with what I have left unsorted.

Deal

p.s. Makes me miss the hunt....

$25 box, fresh bank box, two notes, I wanted to verify wheats were up, 28 wheats, no canadians. Must be a hoard that came in from somewhere, even the 1982's looked better than usual.
LMC copper 629
1982 zinc 15
1982 copper 69
1959 7
1960 8
2009 8
Canadian Copper 0
Canadian zinc or steel 0
Wheat 28 (1925, 1936, 1937, two 1941S)
.2964
everything

I haven't seen a steel cent in the wild in at least several decades.
