I don't normally post on this thread, except when finding something a bit unusual. Yesterday at a Coinstar machine I found 45 cents (4 dimes and a nickel). No big deal except that there was also:

1 Canadian dime (late date)
Also a bunch of Swiss coins (totaling 4 francs + 70 rappen) (20 Swiss coins total- largest was 1 Franc- smallest was 5 rappen)

By the way, the Swiss 5 rappen coins look like they are made of gold, even though they obviously are not. They are 92% copper, 6% aluminum and 2% nickel. Pretty coins!

I guess I could say rappen happens! :)

NOTE: ANY stocks I discuss, no matter how compelling, carry risk- often
substantial. If not prepared to buy it multiple times in modest amounts without going overboard (assuming nothing really wrong with the company), you need to learn more about the market and managing risk. Also, please research covered calls (options) and selling short as well.

September totals (2018 totals)

1¢ - .26 (2.51)
5¢ - .00 (1.55)
10¢ - .70 (7.00)
25¢ - .50 (5.75)
Total - 1.46 (16.81)

Included above were the following wheaties:
1941-S (Large S), 1942-D, 195?

Austria
5 euro cents (2003)

Canada
10 cents (2001 Volunteers, 2003P Uncrowned, 2016)
25 cents (2009 Caribou)

Germany
1 euro cent (2004A, 2018A)*

Great Britain
1 penny (2006)

Token
Holiday Cruises/Paradise, Florida
25 cent casino token (Type 2) (No Date)

*First ever non-Canadian foreign coin I've found in the wild in its original year of release. 9/7/18 is the new date to beat. Canada still has three earlier same-year discoveries - all cents - when I found a 1999 on 6/2/99, a 2003-P Crowned on 8/21/03 and a 2006 on 7/17/06.

And speaking of Canada cents, I haven't found one in the wild since June 2017. In fact, since Sept 2016 I've only found two. Is collector hoarding and the unofficial govt recall starting to affect their frequency in circulation?

2018 Countries (12)

I'm going through a $25 box of pennies that I got on 8/31/18- I'm about half way through and have already gotten 3 Canadian pennies.

They are 1959, 1964 and 1978.

And I'm well over 300 miles from the border.

Does anyone know if a Coinstar machine will accept copper cents ('82 and before) or does it send them to the reject bin? I would think it would accept them. Otherwise, I'd have likely found a lot more in the reject bin over the years.

Of course it accepts them. Something like 20-25% of all cents (except in S Cal and anywhere near Portland) are still copper.

Checked the reject chute on Tuesday night and saw a few coins. I grabbed them and got 60 cents. 1 dime and 2 quarters, one quarter was a 1964-D!
