This one came from a coin counter machine reject bin. It may have rejected it but I was happy to take it in.

Dear Diggn4copper,
After reviewing yours and the other "applications" for membership, we are pleased to announce that all entries up to this point have been accepted into the club. :)
Welcome.

I really don't know enough about grading to say a grade, it seems to me, its not worn to much, but it does have a darker color with some spotting lighter color on the face especially.

Spikeanator,

Great find! Welcome to the 1909 club.

Take a photo and post it and ask for opinions on grades. Much cheaper then PCGS or NGC. There's some good graders here such as Market Harmony.

Most collectors don't brother to get a graded slab unless the value tops $200 to $300 dollars. Which in the 1909 VDB would be a MS 66 Red to MS 67 Red Brown.

I came close to being a member. I got a 1909 plain in a roll of wheats I bought for a buck-fifty. Barely over melt value.

Just got my first 1909 V.D.B from a $25 box. I took it to my local coin dealer and he said "eh, nice find but not worth anything". Its in rough shape, not dinged or scratched just dark brown with some greenish buildup on it. I still think its cool to find one in circulation since its 102 years old and there probably arent many of them still floating around.

Name me one investment where you gain at least 50% the second you purchase it and never have a chance to lose the initial investment.

Slightly offtopic (not a circulation find) but I bought a 1909 half sovereign from a member here this week, nice looking coin.

Well... after 2 months plus, this thread has been updated. I'm still scanning the pre-40 Lincoln threads and finding a few that weren't posted here... so far I see:
henrysmedford with a 1909 (2nd of 3) on 2/10
kestrelia with a VDB on 3/15
kestrelia with a 1909 on 4/1
dave with a 1909 on 4/27
Those four finds will now be incorporated into this thread.
