This isn’t about what I scrapped but what I wish I could have scrapped. I was working on a project in a very rural area recently. The place was about 100 miles from home. The project was to remove 4 sections of steel pipe. I could dispose of it however I wish.

Well, I drive an SUV and three of the sections (up to 15 feet long each) won’t fit in my vehicle. Even if they did, I’d lose money hauling them to a recycling place over 100 miles each way from there.

I don’t like to see things wasted when they can be reused. I’m telling a few of the locals they can just have the piping if they haul it away. Other than that, what would you guys have done?

Recyclersteve I would try and give em away to , craigslist etc. hard sell even at free. but if I had to get them out I would cut um up and Scrap em. Hard to say without a better description but if there thick pipes #1 Steel HMS (unprepared if over 5ft) $130gi for 2240lb so yeah not really worth it in time and fuel for the cutting torch or chop saw. But if u have to move em out of there, how else are you? Landfill closer? Trailer?

Without getting too personal on a public forum, CL won’t work here. Thx for the idea.

This is just plain sad- to get so little for something so heavy that served you so well for so many years. Nothing you can do about it of course.

79 # plastic ,49# of the plastic caps. As I take them off, dry the bottle's a few days, then crush by walking on them in a 30 gallon barrel.so I accumulated the caps in pretzel barrels.
