A flat bike tire really crimps the free metal hoarding. But a nice heavy steel spike for cement forms brought up the weight. And a 9/16 socket for the tool box.

I also found a place that buys used golf balls in an industrial park right near the house. Got to give them a call this week!

I called the used golf ball place. The nice lady told me I can get 50 cents to $5 per ball depending on conditions. As of now I'm no longer giving them away
to my golfing son in law. Now I have to find a way to get to the store when they're open and I'm not at work. Based on the last few weeks I have $7 worth of balls

Well Recyclersteve, I found out.

I was right there this morning at 7 AM when they opened while on my way to work. It is a good sized operation with lots of big vats of golf balls floating in cleaning solution. There were shelves of milk crates full of balls with some colored ones thrown in for good measure, kind of like Easter eggs.

I met the owner and we exchanged pleasantries where I told him I pick up balls that escape the nearby golf courses. I had 15 in a bag and he dumped them in a sorting tray, pawed at them and said that the lot was only worth about $2.00.

I didn't want to throw his phone lady under the bus, because she might have thought I was inquiring about BUYING balls and not selling them based on the price she mentioned.

Still it was a pleasant education and I'm $2.00 ahead. I told the guy next time I come back it will be with a full bucket or more (which may take me a year). At least I know that every one I pick up is at minimum a dime or more. Which is no different than picking up a dime in a drive-thru!

I'll have to keep that in mind. I've seen quite a few golf balls on the streets next to golf courses and didn't really think to pick them up. Now I just need to call around and find a buyer for used balls.
