2020 / 2021 coins

Does anyone see the mint pulling back on production as more and more coins get cashed in due to people being cash strapped? Much like the financial / housing crash of 2009?

I see a potentially significant pullback in production, but don't expect any true rarities to emerge. My understanding is that the 2009 nickels were so hard to get because a lot of them were shipped to Puerto Rico. I don't know if the same thing happened with dimes, which also had very modest mintages.
Former stock broker w/ ~20 yrs. at one company. Spoke with 100k+ people and traded a lot (long, short, options, margin, extended hours, etc.).
NOTE: ANY stocks I discuss, no matter how compelling, carry risk- often
substantial. If not prepared to buy it multiple times in modest amounts without going overboard (assuming nothing really wrong with the company), you need to learn more about the market and managing risk. Also, please research covered calls (options) and selling short as well.

I see several things.
1- Society is moving cashless at a rapid pace.
2- The banks being closed or partly closed from the COVID19 scare, it may difficult to get or return coin. All the banks I have used are only doing the drive through. I don't anticipate many people being able to cash in coin.
3- The economy is basically closed.
4- Are the mint employees considered "essential?" Does anyone know? I do see the tours of the mints are off.
I think you are correct. The mint may shut down production for lack of need of something else.

Coin production has been going down for the last few years. I just read an article in Numismatic News about the coin shortage and they said because of the coin shortage, by the end of 2020 the mints plan on striking the highest number of circulating coins since 2017. I don't think 2020 coins will become more valuable.
