I'm not going to be a frequent contributor to this thread but have always found it interesting. I finally got rid of my "collection" of odd-ball bits of copper wire that I've been gathering from our various remodel and additions to the house over the past 10 years. The electricians were just throwing the trim pieces away - and in small amounts I guess it wasn't worth their trouble to pick up and strip. I had a hard time seeing it go in the trash. Finally took it to the yard just now.

16 lbs of #1 copper at $3.20 = $51.20

Dr. Cadmium...Are you going to GW Green? I tried them out for the first time yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. Much easier in & out than the Bristol yard. Better payouts, too.

No. I used to go there though, mostly to buy. I agree the in and out is much easier there than the other yards in the area. The prices above from my last lot are from out of state.

In state today:

229# light iron 165/GT
88# #1 steel 275/GT
3# mixed Al 0.50
30# irony Al 0.13
1# #2 copper 3.15
7# mixed wire 1.00
1# electric motor 0.28

Total: $43.50
