Gold intended for circulation

Postby JadeDragon » Sun Oct 30, 2022 9:47 am

Zimbabwe has launched gold coins they hope will circulate. The article explains it but I’m thinking this is not going to work, at all. Still when is the last time a country created a gold coin intended to be used directly in commerce? https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/zimbabwe- ... -1.6531868

I was wondering why they wouldn’t use silver instead of gold, but all gold mined in the country is sold to the central bank.
