Hadn't seen that in awhile - a good reminder of those times! Funny how they used the common vernacular for the coin (taken from the Brits) of penny rather than cent.

Still waiting for the lifting of the melt ban, but it'll come, and like Joe said, it'll never drop below a cent in value.

One month after that (January, 2013) was when I joined this fine site. Always enjoyed watching that video and have probably seen it 10-12 times over the years. Thanks for sharing this!
Former stock broker w/ ~20 yrs. at one company. Spoke with 100k+ people and traded a lot (long, short, options, margin, extended hours, etc.).

NOTE: ANY stocks I discuss, no matter how compelling, carry risk- often
substantial. If not prepared to buy it multiple times in modest amounts without going overboard (assuming nothing really wrong with the company), you need to learn more about the market and managing risk. Also, please research covered calls (options) and selling short as well.

Quite a nice hoard. I wonder if Joe is still hoarding Cu pennies?

Almost 2023 and I'm very surprised that pennies are still being minted.

And the inflation we’ve had recently has already made the pennies substantially closer to worthless than they already were.

During the era of high inflation, copper did squat. But the past ~ 16 years it has climbed:

EDIT: First read on Recyclersteve comment interpreted that anyone who saved cents lost out to inflation. After my coffee, I realized it was about the actual cent having no buying power vs many years ago.
