Two trips to scrap yard to do a little clean up.
677 lb shred steel 125 per ton
454 lb lead acid batteries 0.14 per lb
Total $105.87 rounded up to $106.00 but they charge you $1.00 for the cash to come out of an ATM (no other option) so had to pay $2.00 to get my money.

That is ROUGH. The yards I deal with pay cash directly, round to the nearest dollar with a cash dispenser, or pay with a check. The world is getting nickel and dimed to death with fees!

Mine was doing ATM.no charge. Being ,not political ly correct here,,,, so many illiterate Mexicans could not run it, that they went back to, cashing out.

But then again, the whites that scarp, ain't known for being overly bright...this group of course does Not fit that stereotype. Lololol

The tin price is low but I bought it in a bucket of scrap lead so I still came out way ahead. It's definitely not something I come across very often.

6# #2 copper 2.90
4# silver plated brass 2.25
6# brass 2.00
36# clean ACR 1.55
5# tin 3.00

Total $109.20

Yes. Silverplated serving dishes are usually brass underneath, and that's what these were.

It was pure tin in ingot form as in element Sn. A more competitive price would be just over $8.00/lb but I had them scan it for me so it was only right to sell it to them.

Just saw this now for the first time. Very impressive!
Former stock broker w/ ~20 yrs. at one company. Spoke with 100k+ people and traded a lot (long, short, options, margin, extended hours, etc.).

NOTE: ANY stocks I discuss, no matter how compelling, carry risk- often
substantial. If not prepared to buy it multiple times in modest amounts without going overboard (assuming nothing really wrong with the company), you need to learn more about the market and managing risk. Also, please research covered calls (options) and selling short as well.

I’m curious about something. I’ve read through about 4 pages of posts and see VERY LITTLE activity with bare bright copper.

Why is that? Do some of you prefer not to strip easy to strip wire such as Romex?

Part of it is a lot of yards require you to have a business license to sell that item.stemming from the thieves of the recent past.

Sometimes it's best just to sell as is as well. Getting older don't have time to clean scrap items. And it's true about needing a business license to sell stripped wire in arizona. But as always you need to figure out how much you lose in poundage by stripping. Leave some meat on the bone sell as is and move on.

I get very little romex and THHN in my business, so it's simply not worth my time to strip what I do get. I've never had enough to justify investing in a stripper.
