We just pruned members who joined more than 6 months ago and never logged in, and members who had no posts and had not logged in within the past six months.

I used to be on a Canadian collectible glass website, and the guy who owned it would boot you if you didn't post something intelligible every 3 months. If we did that here, I'd have been toast months ago :D

Don't the moderators periodically clear out any old and unused accounts? I was just looking and there are dozens of names with 0 posts that have start dates going back to August of 2011, and "Last Visited" dates in 2011 or early 2012.

Just wondering where we are at now?

Any way of discovering at what number we joined? Or at least of still active members? Just wondering.

Yeah, I think they may have recently done that. We were over 1300 members near the end of 2012 and are at 1268 now.

Two easy ways to know how many members there are. ONE: go to the front page (just click the pile of pennies in the corner) and go to the bottom. Read down there. TWO: at the top right of every page is a link to the members pages. Click that and it will say how many there currently are near the top right of that page.

As far as what number of member you are, there's not really a foolproof way besides counting all the active members who joined before you. But you can click on your username and look at the web address. For instance, when I click on johnbrickner, it says "http://www.realcent.org/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=300" and I think that means you were the 300th member. Many of those accounts get deleted as inactive or spammer, so you've kind of "moved up the list" a bit since. ...So... you are actually number 185 at this point. I counted. (i am a nerd)

This is a VERY interesting thread. Thanks for resurrecting it!

Let’s see now- 242,000 posts. I’ve got 3,800+ comments. So that is 1 of about every 66 comments. Wow- I’ve got a really big mouth!

Caused me to look at my post count - my last post just knocked me past 8000 to 8001. There are only a handful of people with higher counts and half of those are no longer with us. Not sure that says anything positive... I think if you go past 9000 then the end is near! Lol

What happened on Sept. 20th, just a few weeks ago?

It would be interesting to know how many active members there are. Let’s say it takes 10 posts in the past year plus at least 1 in the past two months.

I’m guessing there are maybe only 40-60 of us. There is a point where I have to think twice about posting long, time consuming items- which is s bit sad.
