December coinstars were awful - one crusty zincoln for the whole month. However, December dump machines did well, but those are reported in a separate thread. I really think we should combine these "finding change" threads into ONE single thread.

SILVER !!!! 1 x dime (1958), on its edge against the front of the tray. Thankfully a shiny nickel was there to catch my eye. Only when I stuck my greedy fingers, the dime fell on my hand. First time with silver. Made my day!

Started off 2025 with a new source for consistant finds. It's a coinless casino's customer-accessible coin counter, similar to ones I've checked downtown for many years. Despite being the only machine there, I've found something on every visit. Most of the time it's foreigns stuck to the interior magnets, which is why January's US total is just okay, but the foreigns were great. Fully expect this to be a banner year for other country's coinage.

January totals (2025 totals)

1¢ - .21
5¢ - .20
10¢ - .70
25¢ - 1.50
Total - 2.61

Apartment complex parking lot: .17

Canada
5 cents (2012)
10 cents (2001 Volunteers, 2010, 2016)
25 cents (2006-P, 2006 RCM)

Great Britain
1 penny (2001)

Ireland
1 euro cent (2003)

Mexico
2 pesos (2012, 2023)

Philippines
1 piso (2019)

Thailand
1 baht (2014, 2019, 2021)

2025 Countries (6)
Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, Mexico, Philippines, Thailand

I rarely find anything, but did find 3 zincs and a dime in the reject tray on Sunday.

First find in a long time...

Grocery store Coinstar:
1 Qtr & 2 dimes all 3 clad
1 zincoln
1 Cu from the 60's

Total that up and you get 47 cents. 47 is my favorite number since way back. I later learned that 47 is also the atomic weight of Ag. Double the reason to like it. What amazes me about 47 is the frequency with which I find it or 74 on the license plates of cars I see while waiting at a red light.
