I always check the coinstar machines but never find anything in Portugal. A few weeks ago we were at Carrefour in Seville, Spain and I finally got a hit! A 1947 Peseta. :D

A bit of a pullback for July tends to be typical, with both parties (customers abandoning coins and me there to scoop them up) taking breathers to beat the Vegas heat. Totals were naturally down as a result, though I managed to eke out a bit of silver and one new foreign country. In my quest to beat 38 nations, some common ones that have not yet shown this year are Australia, China, Israel and Saudi Arabia. Let's see if I can tick off one or more of them in August.

July totals (2025 totals)

1¢ - .24 (1.67)
5¢ - .10 (1.45)
10¢ - 1.40 (9.80)
25¢ - 3.25 (22.75)
Total - 4.99 (35.67)

Included in July's total - 1957-D dime

Apartment complex parking lot: 3.06

Canada [$8.41]
10 cents (1985)

France <---32nd country for 2025!
5 centimes (1998)
1/2 franc (1997)

Germany
2 euro cents (2009-F)
5 euro cents (2019-J)

Great Britain
5 pence (2015)

Mexico
20 centavos (1983)
1 peso (2016, 2017, 2018 x2, 2019, 2021, 2023)
5 pesos (1998)

Tokens
Las Vegas Gran Prix (no date)
Mr Car Wash/US Flag (no date) (x3)

2025 Countries (32)
Albania, Argentina, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, Eastern Caribbean States, Ecuador, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands Antilles, New Zealand, Peru, Philippines, Portugal, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, United Arab Emirates

39 cents is weak, but it destroys my COINSTAR total of three cents for July.

Of course, I make 98 percent of my noise on DUMP MACHINES which is a different thread because a dump machine is NOT a coinstar. Not in my book!

On the last day of August I had my largest single CS haul in over four years...52 coins. That rounded out a pretty decent month for the US total, though foreigns weren't as prolific as the past several months. I still managed a new country, which has happened at least once a month this year. And 33 countries is now second best all time for me, with only the all time record of 38 just waiting to be surpassed.

August totals (2025 totals)

1¢ - .67 (2.34)
5¢ - .50 (1.95)
10¢ - 2.60 (12.40)
25¢ - 2.00 (24.75)
Total - 5.77 (41.44)

Included in Aug's total - 1937 wheatie

Apartment complex parking lot: 3.13

Canada [$8.81]
5 cents (2008)
10 cents (1989)
25 cents (2011)

Netherlands
2 euros (2013, Abdication) <---33rd country for 2025!

Thailand
1 baht (2000)

Trinidad and Tobago
10 cents (2015, 2017)

Tokens
Eagle/No Cash Value (no date)
Mr Car Wash/US flag (no date)

Went by Walmart today and had to relieve my bladder, so headed to the restroom at the front of the store. Customer service area was next to the restrooms and I see the CoinStar machine as I'm headed over there and thought, "What the heck? Why not check the return tray?". I rarely check the machines in the Walmarts, but today I did and there were a lot of coins there. I grabbed everything and shoved it in my pocket and went about my business. Later I had time to inspect the treasures and I found:

(4) Canadian dimes
(1) 5 Euro Cent coin
(1) 1983 Pound coin - common coin apparently worth 1 Pound or ~$1.35 presently
(3) (Cu) Cents - not particularly old or noteworthy - not sure why Coinstar rejected them
(1) 1957 Nickel - not particularly old or noteworthy - not sure why Coinstar rejected it
(1) 2023 Dime - not particularly old or noteworthy - not sure why Coinstar rejected it
(1) 1964 Dime - 90% silver! Huzzah!
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. -Lao Tzu

No receipt at all. The machine stopped counting at ,32.18. but it was still , running . So I did not notice that amount was not going up. Until it just plain, stopped working. As of 2 hours ago, no deposit to my account
Bummer.

If it were ,just, the CU it would be good. Having the coin machine owners is a different story. They have no vested interest in an individual member.
