Silver or Gold?... what would you buy right now?

Silver or Gold?... what would you buy right now?

Ok... I'm about to sink about $1500 or so into PM's in the next month or nereabouts...

I'm leaning towards an OZ of gold in 1/10 increments... but... what would you do?

Some things I'm considering... I don't currently have any gold and I have... well... SOME silver! Enough for now at least! :D Also, silver is going crazy and I'm afraid of a market correction sometime soon. Also, gold has only around doubled in value over the past few years and silver... well... if your on this site... I ain't gotta tell you.

Anyhow... thoughts? ;)

Both have plenty of space to decline. Though silver has more. So I'd hold off buying until the silver correction passes and get a chance to buy cheap silver. Premiums on 1/10's are too high.
Most people do not consider dawn to be an attractive experience - unless they are still awake.

silver period IF I was buying. Selling hard and waiting for the dip to the 20's!

I'm definitely waiting for the correction to buy silver...I'm betting it will come down enough for me to snag a monster box (of what I haven't decided yet):D

I have roughly equal values of both, but near-term, silver - no doubt.

If you can get 10, 1/10ths of quality government minted gold, then get it, and tell me where you got it so I can get some. The problem with that size is the premium with tax.

You will have more short term upside potential with silver, but gold will sling shot back.

Hi there-

two words- Mexican Gold.

It's no secret to the vets on this forum that I love Mexican Gold- nice diversity of sizes, dirt cheap premiums, wide recognition.(South American gold is usually dirt cheap too- shhh!) Deep down I love gold much more than silver, but I have made more money with silver.
I would buy Mexican dos pesos coins- they are TINY. But, (now this is on a PER coin basis) they don't change much even with big swings in gold price since it's such a small amount. On ebay Mexican and S.A gold routinely goes for melt or just a couple bucks over.
What's nice about high prices is you tend to see interesting stuff coming on the market. If you have no preference and are just buying gold or silver for the metal's sake, there are lots of deals. I wouldn't mess too much with cheap SILVER, as it will bite you in the butt if the price falls, but pretty much all gold is fair game. Try Austrian ducats, 10 coronas, 20 coronas, South Africa 2 rands, basically if you type in "gold (country name)" in ebay and search each country, you'll find deals before too long as long as you stay away from obvious ones like USA, Canada, etc-look for countries that DON'T have a national bullion coin-

Why not hedged your bests and buy both?

I'm not sophisticated enough in my PM knowledge to play the ratio yet, so I just ensure I buy a piece of gold and a bunch of silver every month regardless of price. :)

If you have a local shop, see if they don't have silver rounds near spot, maybe $36. Buy all you can.
Or
Look for silver dollars at $27 and buy all you can. Any US silver 90% coins at 26-27X face value.

Premiums for gold fractionals are very high and I also think silver will advance faster and has more flexibility.

I did find 10 one tenth gold eagles for $1500 recently and bought them but my dealer relationship is very good. Usually around $155 and up per.

Buy silver is recommended for the amount of money you have.

You could buy one ounce of gold near spot and be done with it too.


Check the forum here for Buy It Now sales. I just purchased US coins from a member and moderator (misteroman, recommended if selling) but other members offer very fair deals.

Today is a dip. Don't expect a big fall. In the past, big dips were normal. Not right now and for the forseeable future.

i would buy silver until the gold to silver ratio is 20, then buy gold and start trading your silver for gold.
