All they care about is that the count in the bag stays the same. If you go back a few posts you'll see where I did this on March 7th and got 22 keepers (19 were walking liberty halves).

Next time you hear silver in an open bag ask if you can swap out halves for halves.

Nick,
Thanks for the idea. I walk a fine line at this bank though. I need to keep them as a dump bank and don't want to anger them. As much as searching through 2000 halves really is my idea of a GREAT time, i'm sure it would be a major annoyance to the very nice head teller there. I'll keep working on them though, who knows, maybe a new Branch manager will make an exception for me....

Morning all!

My box of halves for Monday yielded 3 x 40%'s. The breakdown: 1 x '67, 1 x '68, and 1 x '69.

Hopefully I'll get one more box this week!

Thanks, zig! The merc was a complete surprise because the edge was completely smooth--I was expecting it to be a foreign coin. The odd thing is that the obverse and reverse are in pretty good shape.

$1000 Dimes - 4 Brink's boxes

Box #3
1 Roosevelt 90% SILVER dimes - '59

Box #1, Box #2, and Box #4 - ALL SKUNKS!!! :(

I'm done with dimes; 1 SILVER dime per $1000 is not enough. Further, my local banks are starting to give me static about the number of rolls of dimes they get. Of interest, one head teller told me that nickels and dimes just sit, but the pennies and quarters are gone fast to their business customers.

I'm going back to halves. I bumped into a fellow sorter in my area who told me that the BU half boxes are waning and circulated halves are showing up again.

Two Loomis boxes of halves picked up 3/8 gave up a single '67 silver.

Seems like my 'luck' with dimes has carried over to halves.

Monday's boxes did not arrive. should be here Wednesday. Nope. Now they say it will be Friday. No hurry. It is not as if they will be laden with silver or anything. ;)

The last box of this batch and all I can say is good riddence. This makes 10 skunks in a row and 12 out 13 in this batch being skunks.

Half Box #121 - Skunk

Hopefully the 13 boxes coming in tomorrow will bring a change of luck.
