My wifes out of town for a couple of days and I get to do whatever I want ... yahoo :D I have a lot of catching to do! (Jonas)

I got permission to detect a yard with a house on it that was built in 1950. It was a foreclosure and the new owner is in the process of fixing it up. I was thinking silver and lots of wheats but no such luck. Only one wheat. The grass was high (about 8 inches) so I called the owner and told her I wanted to cut the grass. She was thrilled. I came home and got the lawnmower started without a problem for the first time this year. Put it in the back of the truck and spent about 45 minutes cutting the grass. Ah … now to detect … but a big rain shower comes just as soon as I get the lawnmower put back in the pick-up and the detector out. I go home eat lunch, put the lawnmower away and it’s sunny again. Back to the site for about 5 hours of solid detecting.

Here is what was found:

79 – 1 (25 copper)
5 – 5
12- 10
7 – 25
1 – 1936S wheat penny :)

104 total coins

Also:

1 Stainless steel spoon
1 Brass Hose nozzle
1 1998 Dog License
7 Metal toy cars/planes
1 Cheapo ring
1 Lizard pendant
4 Keys
2 Horseshoes
2 Amusement game tokens

And:

Approximately 2 lbs of aluminum scrap
“ 3 lbs of Copper/brass scrap

I will sleep good tonight! This was after 2 hours of racquetball starting at 7:00am.

I got out today for about 6 hours.....2.5 hours clad/jewelry hunting at elementary schools and the rest of the day hunting in an old farm field.

I found:
5 quarters
10 dimes
5 nickels
17 pennies (11 copper)
1 wheat cent (unreadable date)
2.2 gram broken silver earring
3 old metal buttons and....drum-roll please!!!!! a 2 cent piece  but it is so corroded I can't see the date so it's soaking in olive oil right now. Hopefully I will be able to get some of the crud off and post some pics soon.

Great job on the siver and the 2 cent piece. I can't seem to find anything really old yet this year...or real jewelry. Just clad and pennies.

Great job Bman. I've never found a 2 cent piece.

Jonas ... your coin count keeps increasing. You are far ahead of the rest of us. You can take a few weeks off. :)

I went to a junky site yesterday and found:

4 - 1 (2 CU)
4 -10

8 coins total

I ended up bringing home a bunch of insulated copper wire, brass fittings and probably about 30 pounds of cast aluminum from old dismantled street lights. A couple hundred pounds of heavy steel as well.

This is what happens when you a 4 on and 4 off 12 hour schedule. Besides going through a real nice  divorce. I have, at times, lots of time for hunting. Keeps my mind straight, a litle bit of exercise, a bit of excitement, a bit of fresh air, and a chance to score some BLING for one or both lawyers!

Don't feel bad...the weather has been in the low 30's with lots of wind which means wind chills in the low 20's. Even my latex gloves are not keeping my hands warm enough. Cold but FUN!
