I get discouraged at times on my dime searching. In the past my best find has been nearly two rolls of silver in a batch of CWRs. Well yesterday I hit the jackpot so I think I'll keep doing it. I just went thru the first of two batches of CWR dimes I bought yesterday.
batch 1: 29 CWRs of dimes
I always preweigh them for shorts, longs, obvious cents in the rolls, detection of GB 5 pence pieces, canadian steelies, foreign coin bulges, etc.
9 rolls weighed in at > 122gms (the excitement started building!)
there were two shorts and three longs (one single and one double)
FINDS:
only 47 clads were in these 9 overweight rolls!
383 roosies, some AU/BUs
20 avg circ mercs (only 1 1942 ... not an overdate ... now I'm getting greedy!)
There may be a couple more in the other rolls but the rest weighed in at the usual 113.8gm +- 0.4 gms, including a 1 or 2 coin tare on the shots & longs.
at the current price of silver, thats over $1,100 ($1060 profit)! Can you imagine walking into a bank and asking them for a free $1000, no (n.f.)string{s} (& son, inc.) attached? NOT!
This is my 5th best find ever.
Upon telling my wife about it, she reminded me to be thankful and think about the poor person turning them into the bank. I do thank them and feel bad that they were ignorant of the fact that they let $1060 slip through their hands ... but not bad enough to cause a scene at the bank and demand that they return them to their rightful owner.... OMG another two-edged sword to wring my hands over. How can I possibly survive this injustice once again?
I've been accumulating CWRs of cents for two plus years, waiting for that rainy day ... well guess what, that day has arrived ... I'm broke ... time to get rid of the two tons of zinc!
