Who's a sucker for pretty coins?

Postby Rodebaugh » Tue Apr 05, 2011 8:41 pm

I am a sucker for pretty morgans. Not normaly a lover of toned coins but this gal has excellent eye appeal. I'll pay the premium and have PCGS slab this one 8-)

I like the front of the coin. The cameo is stunning. The reverse is a little more concerning. I hope that PCGS doesn't ding you for "altered surfaces" or questionable toning. They're SO picky when it comes to that stuff almost to the point of being annoying and frustrating. Best of luck there. Let us know.

I found this table leveler in my junk pile:

This shows the bag marks in the field and gives a different perspective on the toning:

 No, I didn't really find this in my junk pile. I bought it with intent to ship it off to Newport Beach and have the fellas at PCGS decide what grade they think it is. I bought it just because I like it. It has a shot at DMPL, no doubt PL, and minimum 63, but I hear they are lenient on the CC's...

To heck with $40.....look everyone it's silver at $1500 an ounce.

Nice Morgan Mike. Great frosted devices set against (somewhat hazed) liquid fields framed up in solid bulls-eye peripheral toning. I agree on the MS-63 designation.
I say 100% PL.....they (the good folks at PCGS) will never give that a DMPL. Who do you think you are anyways.....Jack Lee?

Thanks for sharing.

WOW... I don't care what year/mint/TPG that is, that is an awesome coin! The TPG's should start putting "cameo" on some of these slabs.

The thing is the designations cameo and ultra cameo are reserved for proof coinage.

They are actually very pretty coins.
