Some questions for you guys

Postby davycoppitt » Thu Apr 14, 2011 7:40 pm

I have a few quesitons for you guys.

How do you guys scrap submersible sump pumps? I have quite a few sitting around, but don't know if I should take them apart or if they can go in motors as is.

What kind of oil is in compressors? What do you guys do with it? I have about two gallons of it.

thanks

I do them with motors. As far as compressors I turn them in intact and dont have to mess with the oil

Hi Davyc,
Lots of garages burn waste oil to heat with.
I drop off trans fluid, motor oil, brake fluid, at a body shop near my place.
He'd take your compressor oil too betcha.

PS: Find any gold eyeglass frames lately?

I would hold onto a submersible sump pump if it works. They are great to use when removing scrap above ground pools . Pretty easy to come by scrap sump pumps, but a good one can be very useful in that sense.

My yard is a bit picky when it comes to motors that are sheathed completely in steel, but they rarely give me a hard time.

If the compressor is sealed/soldered closed some yards will take it.

Motors are motors at my yard. All get lumped together. Some with the fan blades still attached.
Pedal to the metal.

CrazyTom's equation; More Traffic + More Miles = More Metal
