What is the going buy price for copper pennies as we speak?

1.5 to 1.65 is the general range. That includes shipping to the buyer.

So a buyer can usually get them for 1.5 to 1.65, but they must pay for shipping on top of that?

It sounds better if you say
saving the unsophisticated purchaser from charlatans charging $16-24 a pound.Seriously, I asked on another forum what a guy was paying for .999 copper, and he replied that he'd not seen it under eight times spot.
