Score at pawn shop

Stopped by the local pawn shop at lunch today. I was able to pick up a 1/20 gold panda for $75.50 and and a 1883 morgan silver dollar for $36.00. I ask about their buy and sell policy on gold and silver. They buy at 10% below spot and sell at spot. I thought the fractional gold at spot is a good deal. I will have to check in more often. :D

I have bought from pawn shops before. Usually junk 90% they dont move very often. Usually can talk them down 8-10% below spot if I get a big enough lot.

Local gold and silver guy has coins in his shop and gives me a 5-10% discount on spot. My wife bought several 90% quarters there on Wednesday for $5 each!

He has a 1905 gold liberty $2.50 that he said he'll do $190 on, which was pretty much melt value. I think I'll go pick that up this afternoon.

Today there's an ad on the local craigslist, selling 2009 ASEs at spot.

on CL i hit or miss, sometimes i buy at spot, most time i buy 15-25% under spot. it all depends on timing, just like on our BUY IT NOW section. what i have noticed in my area is alot of coin shops selling their inventory on CL, they want 15% over spot, stating that no one sells at spot, they cant even buy at spot. what a bunch of bologna.
