I'm catching all that I can :P I guess the real question is: How much is enough :?:

What are you filling them with, zinc? 10 pounds sounds kind of light.. that should come out to about 16 pounds just for 2400 coppers not counting the box. One full box of copper cents including the box and paper weighs 17.1 pounds.

No Alec at coinflation has not linked it yet. I am hopeing that he does so because that is the main reason I put the auction on ebay. I really don't expect them to sell on there. Plus if someone was interested in that amount they would be much better off buying them directly from me.

I save all of the pennies. Zinc and copper. My boxes are only 6" high x 8" long x 4" wide. I glued thick and thin cardboard to the inside to hold the weight. I use thin cardboard to seperate the miniature money bags.

Thought I'd pull this one out of the archives and give everyone a chance to see and post any changes they have made over the years.

Looks like I average one box of copper about every 2-3 months from when I first posted as a total noob. :shh:

Ummmmm .... there's 2500 pennies in a standard bank box, right? (25.00 for the box from banks). How much does that kind of box weigh if all coppers? (too lazy to get one and put it on a scale :D ( I know the weight would vary somewhat before the pennies are sorted and only the coppers are rolled and put back)

Are the standard bank boxes easily shippable? I have a few, being a hand sorter, so am not intending to do any selling (or buying), just wondering.

Thanks!
Sheba

Now let's see ... where is that blasted cat! I'm hungry. woof, whine, drool, sniff ... 'here kitty, kitty, kitty, nice kitty. Where are you little kitty?

In theory, the coin weight of a $25 box is 17.14 lbs. Due to wear, it might be a little less but I wouldn't guess that it would get below 17lbs. I can't say how much the cardboard/etc. is.

As for shipping, 3x $25 boxes fit perfectly into a medium flat rate box. It's like they were designed for each other!

Dang I thought I had a pretty good stash going until I saw some of these numbers.... I need to step it up... penny envy !

Also curious as to how many wheats, Canadas, etc folks have piled up in their sorting endeavors?
