$500 Brink's Box of halves

4 40% SILVER JFK halves - '67,'68D,'69D(2)
9 Clad NIFCs - '02D(2),'03P,'04P,'05P,'05D,'07P,'09D,'10D
1 50c from Panama - '09

I got an interesting note from my credit union vault manager. The Brink's delivery guy told my CU that I was wasting my time ordering halves. He left a note for me to call the coin manager at the local Brink's facility. Could BRINK'S be pulling the SILVER out at the same time that they roll the halves? Does Brink's have machines that do this? From my first box, I can see that it is not 100% accurate. Perhaps they have some employees doing it by handsorting. Anybody run into this? Should I make the call, or just keep ordering more halves?

So 100% of all boxes of halves I've ever searched have been skunks.
But I haven't been doing this for long so I'm going to keep at it for now. This Friday I'm getting $5000 of halves from my credit union, who will get them from Wells Fargo. Hopefully my luck will change.

Dont give up. Skunk streaks and Silver streaks both happen. In February I had 17 skunks in a row and in April I had a 20 box streak with silver in them. You just got to plow thru the bad ones.
If you are waiting for the "correction" to buy you need to realize that the increasing prices ARE the correction.

All of a sudden they are pulling the silver out? Why weren't they doing it when silver was in the $10 to $20 price range for the years prior to this run up? That would indicate that they have some sorter sensor that can check silver coins against copper clad ones? One can visually check coins I guess. Would their workers have the time to do that on the clock? I'd love to hear what the Brinks depot has to say to you about ordering halves. Seems to me that they are killing off some business by telling you not to order coins. You suppose the delivery guy is telling all the banks on their route the same info?

Mixed emotions about this batch. Another bunch of tampered with boxes. Short one entire roll in three different boxes, short eight coins in another. But aside from that, not a bad take.

Report on dimes searched:

$125.00 -- 24 BWRs & 1 CWR -- This page of my notes completed the Brinks Box of dimes that I had gotten to search. First time getting a box of dimes. Interesting note in that this box has set somewhere for quite some time as the newest coins in the box were 2005. The one silver dime found was in the final roll of the plastic/shrink wrapped rolls. Could not tell through the wrapper that there was any silver in the roll at all. This box didn't help towards filling the jar with 2009 coins for the kids.

I save the 2009 as that is the year my son was married and I am trying to fill a pretty jar with 2009 coins I come across in my sorts.

Also, I have seen few 2010 and 2011 coins so it is still exciting for me to find them. To each their own. That's what makes this hobby enjoyable to a wide variety of people.

$500 Brink's Box of Halves

SKUNKAGE - ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! :(

I opened the other four boxes I got this week and took a peek. They have the look of SKUNKAGE too.

I haven't made the call to the coin manager at Brink's to see why they would encourage me NOT to order halves because I would be wasting my time. I'll need to check out the other half boxes to see what I've gotton this week before I make the call. 6 more boxes of halves on order for next week though.
