Salt & Pepper shaker from yardsale. Is this silver?

Guys -

I picked these up with a silverplate platter and a chrome sugar and creamer deally for $2 at a yard sale.

I'm having trouble identifying them - wondering if any of you can help?

They're heavy - which is why I went ahead and bought them - 9.2 oz.

I weight one with the kitchen scale (Not the most accurate thing in the world) and it was 107g and it displaced approx 10 ml of water when I submerged it - Density between 10 and 11ish. Is there any chance these are silverplated lead?

Markings on the bottom are very unclear - unreadable, there is an obvious crown and it looks like lettering inside the crown. Possibly W. O. Mfg. Co.?
But no EP or sterling or .925 that I can see. Only a quite clear "2760" that looks like it was welded on by my 7 year-old.

Any ideas?

When I get home I'll get some better pictures with a camera rather than a phone.

I can say with 90% certainty that are not sterling. First off they are too heavy compared to normal sterling salt and pepper shakers. Most are weighted and and are marked quite clearly. The un-weighted ones are also marked clearly bur are usually much lighter. Also that pattern is unfamilar. When manufacturers create sterling products they make sure to mark them clearly to promote their porduct and quality of contents.

The rounded edges and flat flat bottoms looks like a silver plate or pot metal. The marking is also raised where as most markings are imprinted into salt and pepper shakers.

To get a definite answer any jewelry or coin store can do a silver test to make sure their real- but dont get your hopes up.

The antiques guy says pot metal. From what I can tell, that means it could be a mix of anything. Eh. The grinder will tell me what they're made of.

Pot metal tends to be zinc most of the time.

They look plated to me, but there is no way to tell for sure from the photos. One thing is certain: There is corrosion around the little openings for the salt to shake out of the salt shaker. That is usually, but not always, a dead give away for plated.

If you like them, polish them up and keep them for your own personal use. If not, polish them anyway and sell.
