Small silver score today

I'm in the UK and silver at fair prices is hard to get although I've had some luck with a local antiques dealer who moves .500 pre 1947 silver coins well under spot when he gets them.

Well today I went to a Market town that has an interesting Market
of collectables and alll sorts of bric a brac, one stall had military stuff
and coins on it, non of the Uk stuff was silver, however in a case he has 4 US half dollars, 64,64,68,68.

I managed to buy them for the equivalent of $11 US which I know is a good deal, don't know what I'm going to do with them get but a nice little find.

Woo, woo, woo! Well as you know that's not just a good deal, but a great deal, and if you're not sure what to do with them, I'm sure you could even sell them off to someone here and make a good profit, even with the higher cross-pond postage. Or maybe someone here has some UK/European stuff they would trade.

I know it's a great little score, wasn't sure what 40%s go for through I know 90% stuff goes well and know a rough x face value whch I converter to £ but don't know what 40% are x face

They are proportional, less a "less desirable" factor. (You may often see posts here on going prices for them.) With silver going up and down it can be hard to follow, but the melt value is clearly 4/9ths of the 90%, and you can see the result of those calculations on coininflation.com, but the actual street value for the 40% often discounted. Maybe 80% of that melt value.
