Littleton 2011 ASE offer for $39 shipped - 1st post update!

Postby 68Camaro » Sun Jul 10, 2011 2:45 pm

Go to littleton's offer page, type in code 2DK200, and it includes a 2009 uncirculated penny set.

https://www.littletoncoin.com/webapp/wc ... layDetails

OK - got my shipment today. Ordered coins are fine, though the cents are all in one envelope, free to scratch around on each other, so MS60 doesn't mean much.

Unhappy with one minor but annoying detail. They sign you up for their "Coins-on-Approval" program. With that program you are shipped a handful of misc coins at ridiculous prices, and you have to return them if you don't want them. They do provide an envelope, and post-paid label. But you'll have to go to the trouble of sticking them in a mailbox. Sorry about that. I also called them to ensure I'm taken off of this service. They did it politely, and they also said that returning all the coins would automatically take you off the service, but there is nothing that says this, so I would be sure to call them.

I'm usually very aware of fine print, and did not recall seeing anything that indicated this. Did anyone else?

At any rate, this is more or less the price you have to pay for taking these offers. Hope no one will be too inconvenienced. It only takes a couple of minutes to deal with it.

During the past year, I've taken advantage of 3 different Littleton offers. The most recent was three 1889 Morgans (VF or better) for $90. Very nice coins and well worth $30 each. With the dollars, however, they sent a note that this was the end of me being able to buy their offers (without buying something from their catalogue). Oops! I've been busted.

I'll certainly respect their wishes, but my neighbor will have three strikes in return for a six pack of the cheap swill he drinks. Works for me.

I'm sure I've bought well more than three offers, but it been over several years (and several address changes).

You all are welcome.

I remember the first time I did this a few years ago they were something like $12. Yikes! Now $39 seems like a deal!

Hmm. I just ordered one. Site worked fine.

Littleton is going to think the advertisement that corresponds to 2DK200 is one of the most effective print ads they have ever done.

I could not resist with the recent run-up in prices. Thanks for the heads up!
