Found an AU war nickel last night

I found an AU war nickel last night going through a bank wrapped roll box.

I was amazed how great of shape it was; usually when you find war nickels, they are pretty circulated and dark.

congrats - I still haven't found a war nickel in the wild - my 1st group of 5 rolls had a V and a buffalo though..

Nice! The picture doesn't do it justice though.

The other day I almost missed a war nickel because it was in PERFECT condition. It had full mint luster and hardly any wear at all.

Awesome find Pennysaved. I've only found one war nickel in the wild so far, and it looked like it had been taped to the bottom of Forest Gump's running shoes.

Lately, AU war nicks have been in about the $4-6 dollar range at two smaller coin shops I go to.

The largest coin shop I go to considers war nicks to be in the same boat as Roosevelt dimes and Kennedy Halves (i.e., anything below BU/MS they sell as "junk").

Great find. I have pulled almost 100 war nickels from circulation and I have never seen one that nice. Just gotta keep searching I guess.
