U.S. energy independence, we CAN do it!

this post is in reference to liquid fuels mainly. We do have options. Basically if we had vehicles that could handle three fuels at a cost of 100 bucks per new car wed open up the potential for MANY new fuel sources, allowing not only liquid fuel independence for our country but also keeping that money in our country and LOWER fuel prices through competition of fuels. We can do this now with current technology!!! Heck we need the JOBS also... we are bleeding at the seams. This is one major way we could make a positive shift in our economy national security and so many things.

Heck henry ford was working on vehicles that used ethanol to boost octane in a vehicle. the oil companies had other plans, namely LEAD. think of all that lead we released in those years, that never had to happen. Pretty sad.

this site links to info on a bill for congress making a law to make set percentages of new cars able to run on multiple fuels including gasoline, methanol, and ethanol. At a cost of around 100 per vehicle. Older cars could be converted for under 400 though that isnt part of this bill... The Open Fuel Standard Act (HR 1687)

grow algae on land with little other uses, make fuel from the algae, use the wastes from making fuel from algae to make a high protein food source for cattle that does as well as their current sources, also freeing up that more desirable land!!!

As for methanol the options for sources for that are endless. Between these three fuels according to these folks, and they among them are people who do have the credentials and expertise to make these claims it seems, we could cover all our liquid fuel needs.

But then we also have the water car. would be a neat commuter car if you didnt need to use the highway. Unless they build them with rollcages.

Alcohol, water, and time produces vinegar, and that is no good in a car. Ford was chasing a dead end.

Right now, the only people using alcohol with any luck are the race car drivers, and those engines seldom remain in one piece for more than a week unless they have been cleaned and rebuilt.

Liquid fuel from coal after using the oil we already have in the US.
