Silver outperformed gold today

Postby Pennysaved » Fri Aug 19, 2011 11:46 am

According to Kitco, gold up 1.3% and silver up 3.89%

Do you think this is the beginning of silver trying to catch up to gold?

Silver is already caught up to it's 50~1 ratio and then some.
Silver shouly be 37. But is silver overperforming or gold underperforming?
Silver is predicting $2100 gold or gold is predicting $37 silver.
My bet is on $2100 gold after a sharp selloff at 2000.

I thought the historical ratio was much closer in the 1800s and early 1900s

Looks like a lot of silver is being sold on here today. does this imply many think its about to drop again? Or people just waiting for it to be back into the 40s to clear some out? hmmmm.

I'll be honest with you, I think silver is going to reach the high $40's again, and probably pretty soon, but you'll notice that I'm one of the people trying to sell. Why? I need cash! I've been waiting for silver to break into the $40's, and it finally has, and that's when I told myself I'd sell a bit. I'd keep it if I could, but financially, I just can't.

I don't know. I sold some gold Credit Suisse bars today, and HOLY CRAP, I was offered $70 over spot at the first dealer I visited. I now see on ebay, that these are selling for $100 over. What gives? I have never seen anything like this. As for silver, I haven't bought any silver since last week when I was still paying 25X face. I now see that buyers are paying 32-35X for average circulated coins. Either the world is going to come to an end, or this stuff is getting a little crazy.

For me, it is clearing out some 90% for some silver eagles that are en route.

I was always told at the time period you quoted the ratio was 15 or 16 -1. But if you look at your $20 gold double eagle it was .96750 oz. pure gold and a silver Morgan dollar was .7734 oz pure silver so that puts it a ratio of about 25-1.
Does anyone think we will ever see that ratio again?????
