$300 in halves yielded 8 x 40%, all from one roll. 1x1965, 6x1967, 1x1968. I also got a 2006-D, my first NIFC.

out of three boxes of dimes, the last one yielded a single 1962-D Roosevelt.

The latest SILVER stats for August have been posted. Look to the first post of this thread to get the details. Always look to the line just before the Kitco quotes to see the last post that was included in the latest update.

This will be the last update for August until the final August update is posted on September 1, 2011.

A 1966-D - now that's a rare coin!!

(I'm assuming you found 2 1966s)

Yeah, I found 2x 1966 but only one had a mint mark letter that I could see,
I don't get the 1966-D joke, did this coin never get minted or something?

240.00 BWR = 1 1955 Canadian dime, 1 1946 roosie
10.00 CWR = skunk, but 1 extra dime!
2.00 loose halves = skunk

I used to get upset when i found non-silver canadian dimes in my BWR's, until i began to realize that if the coin vault/processor was letting these slip through, then silver was also slipping through. my experience with multiple banks, but one bank in particular (which shall remain nameless!) has proven this. I would have to guess that somewhere in the various coin supply chains there are "coin discrimanators" that kick out foreign coins, silver coins and anything magnetic. So i've been using the occurance of magnetic canadian coins as a pretty accurate indicator of potential silver.

In 1965 - 1967, LBJ decided to combat the coin shortages by removing all mintmarks from all US coins. It was thought that collectors would squirrel away fewer coins (only no mintmark coins would be available); however, the shortage of coins was primarily due to the public, dealers, and some smelters pulling out any SILVER coins that they found in circulation or at banks. In 1965, the mint was not ready to produce the clad coins, and for the most part continued minting the SILVER coins with the 1964 date until 1966. So, a 1966 coin with a mintmark would be rare indeed.

What is an 1966 D worth, I can upload a photo when I get home later. I hope I didn't read it wrong cuz that is sounding like the most likely thing.

so I checked my stack of coins, I have 11x 40%, none of them are 1966 with a mintmark, so I must have been mistaken
My guess is I found an 1969 D but I read it wrong when typing it into the computer.

4 dime boxes yielded 3 rosies, and $350 cwr skunked. I need to figure out a way to dump larger quantities, my dump bank is annoyed if i bring in $500 in dimes everyday. I had to hit all 3 branches in town today!
