As 68Camaro has already pointed out in the Mother of All Threads (SILVER - WAS $31-$49, WAS $33-$43, NOW $44+), TPTB couldn't keep it down for very long. They can't because more and more people are admitting to themselves that fiat currencies cannot maintain value. It seems like almost every day now I see mention of a return to the gold standard or the need for gold-backed currencies. That wasn't happening on such a broad scale even in 2008.
