90 Indians in 1 bag

Postby Dan the Relentless » Sat Sep 10, 2011 1:49 pm

Did a $50 bag that had 90 Indian head pennies in it, there was over 600 wheats in the bag too. It was very exciting to pull Indian after Indian. 3 years ago hit a bag with 27 Indians. My total is 191 now. Once went 6 months without seeing one. No matter how much I feel I am overdue to hit one if its not there its not there. I hit a 1909 s last week , our 3rd one. To me it seems like searching bags is almost a form of cache hunting, you get someones jar of coins. I like the bags better than boxes but they seem to have alot more junk in them to clog the penny machine. 2 months ago hit an 1878 penny. Dan

Congratulations someone dumped Grandpa's coin collection and you were the lucky one to find them. Were there any good dates?

That is awesome. I'm a small time hand sorter, so I usually don't get bags. I will start Monday. :)

Awesome! It took around $1500 of searching before I found my first IH. Congratulations!

Way to go!

In another thread I bragged on my recent IH score. I dumped a CWR marked "Mixed Canadians" into the Ryedale only to discover that it was REALLY labeled "Mixed Indians". It was about half Indians and half wheats. ALL the IHs went into the zinc bucket. Now I know why I haven't found any IHs in the wild until now.

Steps are being taken to remedy this flaw in my system.

The dates are 1889 1895 1899 6-1900 6-1901 9-1902 15-1903 6-1904 10-1905 20-1906 14-1907 1-1908. the wheats had about 50 pre 1940, nothing real good. The batch with 27 had over 300 pre 1940, lots of teens and twenties . This winter I would like to sort the old wheats better. Last year hit a bag with almost 2500 wheats, but 90% of them were 1944. I don't keep records but I think I have sorted about $60,000. worth of pennies. 2 to 3 million in halves , 1 to 1 1/2 million in dimes. I really want to step it up and get serious about this. Its almost like a sickness or disease , I can't help it I need to do more. Winter coming soon I need to cut alot of wood, that I hate to do. Dan
