Scrapping utility trailer...Done

Have an old rusted out 4x8 trailer that I want to scrap tomorrow. I don't need to pull the tires off, right?

I doubt it. If you have one nearby, an auto dismantler may even come to your house and pay you for it. You wouldn't even have to leave your house!

Spent the whole morning in the rain pulling wood off the trailer. Finally went to drive off and the damn thing near collapsed. I guess the plywood had been holding it together. So I broke it down some more and trailered the remains to the yard.

Ordeal in a thunderstorm. No idea what I was doing, or what lane to get in. The guys were hollering spanish. But they took pity on me and clawed the whole mess right off the bed for me. I only got out of the truck to get soaked; figured they were all wet and miserable, it seemed the right thing to do.

So my ticket says 700 lb Light Iron, price/0.112 lb, total $78.12

I guess they didn't care about the tires after all. Besides the 4x8 trailer, I added a couple 5 gal pails of misc shop scrap, and half an engine block from an old tractor.

I don't know how the price per lb stacks up with current trends, but I was happy with the outcome anyway. I can see how this could become addicting.
