A quick note though: while the S mint mark generally means a proof strike, the following S-mint coins were minted for general circulation, and are most likely NOT proofs: 1968-1974 cents, 1968-1970 nickels, 1979-1981 dollars.

Beautiful 1989-s lincoln cent! It just stuck out when I cracked open the roll. It came out of a $25 string box!

i found a 73s in the last 100.00 sorted. and yes i know, that most are ciruclated. this one stuck out like a hammer struck thumb due to its 'mirror finish'.

A sparkling 1986-s.

I find this very odd...I've hand sorted thousands of pennies and to get '2' within a couple of weeks of each other. I figured more hand sorters would be finding them too!

I found a 1974-S proof cent in a roll last night.

Searched a $100 Brinks Box of Nickels and found a 1973S Nickel.

Im not the one who found them, but years ago when I was a kid I got 20 plus dollars in proof dimes. all of them silver in the 60s, a few different years. This was when silver was 3-4 bucks. I worked on a farm, and was being paid for beans I picked. She gave me 3 of them at first. And I told her it was silver, and asked her if there were more. She had gotten 5 rolls of them, in payment a few days before, but have given a few out in change. She willingly gave me the rest instead of bills. I still have most of them.

I found a 1961 Proof nickel that I had received in change from my recent shopping. This coin was also an upgrade coin for my nickel album.
