Do the tab on cans have any premium to the cans themselves? I was just curious b/c my company saves them and according to them every gallons worth of tabs a kid gets a cancer treatment. I don't scrap so I have no clue about any of this stuff.

That sounds like a ridiculously low number of tabs for a cancer treatment. Dont you save the tabs to donate to the Ronald McDonald House?

I just give them to my boss. I work for Brown and Root which is a huge company. Maybe we have some kind of deal with charities or something I have no idea.

Tabs for any type of treatment is a myth. This is an urban legend that's been floating around for at least 20 years (it used to be 1000 tabs for kidney dyalisis treatment).

Even Ronald McDonald house just sells the tabs for scrap.

Doubt it. I've researched this myself, to no avail. Just scrap em'!

yep, myth on the treatments, the recipient scraps them....reason is the density of the tabs is greater with less volumn than it is with cans. The ladies in my office say 'save those tabs" and I save the cans. I like the trade.

My daughter was saving tabs for quite awhile. We saved up about half a gallon of them. It felt like they weighed, maybe 3 ounces. I humored her.

There's usually less impurities in the tabs. No colors. That kind of stuff.

Two weeks ago I seen the RMH bring in three gaylords full of tabs. Yep, right to the scrap yard. And you should see how many tabs are in one gaylord. It's insane!

It was cool as hell! Once they weighed them and dumped the gayloards, the guys were kicking the pile and it looked like silver explosions going off!
