I made it to 600 rolls, or twelve boxes, in my 10,000 roll journey. The pennies are Canadian unless otherwise identified. Here are the stats for rolls 501-600:
* 1942 - 1977: 440, or 8.80%.
* 1978 - 1979: 130, or 2.60%.
* 1980 - 1981: 170, or 3.40%.
* 1982 - 1996: 1205, or 24.10%
* U.S. pre-'82: 139, or 2.78%. These are all non-wheat, non-'82 coppers.
* "Keepers," or semi-numismatic coppers that a naive or sentimental collector would keep: 29, or 0.58%. Eight (8) of them are wheaties.
------------------------------------
Total coppers: 2110, or 42.20%.
Luckily for me, I'm staying on the good side of 40%. Based on what I've seen so far, 40% or so seems to be the rough expected yield.
Another tracking category of interest:
* U.S. pennies, '82 and after: 271, or 5.42%. (I dump away all '82s, so I have zero '82 coppers.)
I did it. I've been crazy enough to sort through 10,000 rolls of pennies. Almost makes you think, "some people will do anything to build up a
coin collection."
