Now up to 800 rolls, or sixteen boxes, in my 10,000 roll journey. Many thanks to the mods for adding the Canadian penny categories.
The pennies listed below are Canadian unless otherwise identified. Here are the stats for rolls 701-800:
* 1942 - 1977: 486, or 9.72%.
* 1978 - 1979: 106, or 2.12%.
* 1980 - 1981: 219, or 4.38%.
* 1982 - 1996: 1159, or 23.18%
* U.S. pre-'82: 117, or 2.34%. These are all non-wheat, non-'82 coppers.
* "Keepers," or semi-numismatic coppers that a naive or sentimental collector would keep: 56, or 1.12%. Eleven (11) of them are wheaties.
------------------------------------
Total coppers: 2143, or 42.86%.
Lucky for me, I'm still in the above-40% zone. Looks like the Canadian pennies haven't been sifted that much.
Another tracking category of interest:
* U.S. pennies, '82 and after: 261, or 5.22%. (I dump away all '82s, so I have zero '82 coppers.)
I did it. I've been crazy enough to sort through 10,000 rolls of pennies. Almost makes you think, "some people will do anything to build up a
coin collection."
