Guess what I found in the teller tray today!

Postby HPMBTT » Mon Nov 07, 2011 4:47 pm

So I started going to this new bank branch in the last couple of weeks and have established a rapport with two tellers. Since I don't have an account there, the first time I went, I used the excuse of, " I didn't know you guys had a branch here, as I usually go to the other one on xxxxx street etc." Over the last 2 weeks, I've cleared out over $800 in CWR dimes for them, of which they have loved me for. I've also showed them a couple of my coin albums too. Anyway, I got a few halves here and there, but never any silver. So today, I decided to take a chance and head down to this particular branch again, despite going there last Thursday. It's my turn in line and it's one of the two tellers that I know.

I asked only for halves today instead and she gives me just 5 dollars worth, but hey...wouldn't you know it? Benjamin Franklin is peeking out and looking at me, so things were looking good already. I'll take it.

Then she says, "Would you like some dollar coins? I just got some in." Sure, why not? She pulls out about 15 large dollar coins. While she is counting them out, I see something on one of them that's different that I haven't seen before... a beautiful lady is looking at me. No F#$^n way! I take a second look while she is still counting. Well, I'll be damned, it's definitely her! Now, I didn't hear the sound of silver, but I did happen to notice out of the corner of my right eye, that the customer to the right of me was looking at me and my teller, while continuing to talk to his own teller. Secretly, I'm thinking, "You better not say anything!" I hand her the 20 FRN's or so, and, trembling a bit, reach for the dollar coin stack quickly, just in case the guy next to me says anything (guess I was paranoid), say thanks. The nervousness instantly turns to contentment as the two coin stacks (halves and dollars) hit my hands. I then decided to show her one of my other coin albums that she hadn't seen before (I had my wheat pennies album with me) and take my time.

I drive out of the parking lot and to the next one over, just in case. I pull them out and double-check. Sure enough, it's a 1922-D Peace dollar.

MY FIRST EVER SILVER DOLLAR COIN FROM CIRCULATION! (and I've been searching coins for years)

The cost? $1 in FRN's. The feeling? Priceless. Oh, and Benjamin for 50 cents didn't exactly hurt either. :)

BULLY!
If I have the gift of prophesy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to move mountains but do not have love I am nothing. And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned but do not have love it profits me nothing.

That's awesome... I need that to happen to me! It just boggles the mind how someone could be so thick skulled as to turn in a SILVER DOLLAR. It's one thing to not recognize a silver quarter or something, that's understandable, but the dollars are so distinctive.
